Float Therapy

The most remarkable Holistic treatment available today allowing you to relax body, mind and spirit simultaneously.

The float pods provide a Zero Gravity experience due to 1000lbs of Epsom salt combined with about 2 feet of water creating a buoyancy that will have even people who cant float floating.

Having the physical body free of any tension or pressure points allows joints and muscles to fully relax and release resulting in pain relief and the physical body being able to go through the homeostasis process of healing itself more effortlessly.

The water is heated at skin temperature so by closing your eyes, you experience virtually zero sensory stimulation.

This is a place to be at peace and re-connect with yourself, but much like any other mindfulness practice, this may take a few sessions and explorations.

First Time Floater Video

Know before you Float

Please arrive no more than 10-15min prior to your appointment time.

You may have enjoyed Float Therapy before at another location, however every centre is different and due to liability reasons, everyone must view the first time floater orientation/tour video and fill out a Confidential Health History.

Your appointment time is the start time for your actual session, if you are late unfortunately we will not be able to add extra time at the end of your session.

Please shower before entering the float pod. We provide Shampoo, Conditioner and Body wash.
No outside products are allowed (especially face masks and scrubs). It is important to know that many of our guests have severe allergies (nuts, fruit, etc.) and they are in many skin care products, especially natural or organic ones.

If you use your own music in the Float Pod, please be mindful of the volume.
If it's too loud, we will ask you to turn it down.

Freshly coloured hair must have shower water run clear and white towel intact before floating or this could damage our pods and also damage your hair colour...that would not be fun for either of us.

If you have hair dye that is purple, green, red, blue, pink or any other bright colour, you cannot use our float tanks until your hair is dye free. Should you not respect this policy and the colour bleeds in the Float Tank and water, you will be charged for damages, salt replacement and loss revenue from having to cancel appointments in order to refill the Pod. Due to the high cost of Salt and Supplies, this fee can be up to $2000.

Many of our menstruating  clients wonder about floating during menstruation. You may find it actually helps with the discomfort of cramps and PMS. Please take the same measures you would if you were to go swimming in a pool during your period (tampon or menstrual cup). However, if your flow is heavier than what can be stopped with a tampon/cup, we recommend you reschedule as contamination of the water will result in a contamination fee.

Members get to use our big Fluffy towels for Free.
Non-Members, if you wish to leave your towel at home, we can provide one for you for a small donation to our charity foundation.

  • Pain Relief
Float Therapy has seen success easing more chronic pains such as neck and back pain, and help with spinal misalignment issues. Float tanks have even been shown to ease the pain from such conditions as arthritis and fibromyalgia, conditions with few natural treatment options.
  • Muscle Recovery
Due to how buoyant the Epsom salt and water solution is, you can fully relax all of your muscles when floating. This is similar to experiencing zero gravity which allows even intrinsic muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons to be at rest. Epsom Salt baths are recommended by many health practitioners for muscle recovery and following massage therapy treatments. Our Float Pod has approximately 1000lbs of Epsom Salt making it the ultimate Epsom Salt bath.
  • Athletic Training
Bodies physically rest and recover more quickly in a floatation tank, up to four times faster, in fact. This means that you can train yourself harder and reap the benefits of slower recovery times with the use of a float tank. Water in the float tank has the added benefit of being saturated with Epsom salts, which have well-established healing effects, helping to draw out toxins and lactic acid from work outs, speeding up recovery time and allowing athletes to push themselves farther, faster, especially in conjunction with massage therapy or other alternative medicine.
  • Sleep Issues
The sensory deprivation from Float Therapy allows the brain a natural calm-down period, aiding those who have trouble entering this period naturally. Floating can even be used to alleviate feelings of “jet-lag” caused by changes in time zones or reset sleep schedules for those needing to do so to maintain a healthy level of sleep. If you suffer from Insomnia or other sleep disorders, 1hr in a float pod is said to be the equivalent to the body as 8hrs of deep rest.
  • Increased Creativity
Sensory deprivation allows the mind to enter into the theta state, a somewhat dreamlike state that most people only experience when on the cusp of sleep or right after waking in the morning. These lower frequency brain waves, primarily generated by the right hemisphere (the hemisphere associated with creative, non-linear thought), have been called “the state of inspiration” and there is evidence, both anecdotal and scientific, to support an increase in feelings of creativity accompanying these type of brain waves.
  • Mental Clarity & Focus
Float therapy provides a peaceful environment conducive to mental clarity and heightened focus. By eliminating external distractions, individuals can enter a meditative state, allowing for introspection and enhanced cognitive function. Many float enthusiasts report improved problem-solving abilities, creativity and a sense of mental rejuvenation after sessions.
  • Emotional Healing
Float therapy provides a safe space for emotional exploration and healing. Many individuals report experiencing profound introspection and emotional release during float sessions, allowing them to process unresolved emotions and cultivate greater emotional resilience. The practice of mindfulness cultivated during floatation carries over into daily life, enabling individuals to manage stress more effectively.
  • Stress & Anxiety Relief
In today's fast-paced world, stress has become a prevalent issue affecting mental and physical health. Float therapy provides a sanctuary for relaxation, enabling individuals to unwind and release tension. An hour of zero gravity and zero distractions will decrease the production of cortisol, a stress hormone, leaving us feeling refreshed and serene after the float.
  • How is the water cleaned?
MANA Health & Wellness complies with stringent health and safety regulations. The water in the Float Pod is likely the most pristine you have ever been in! The water in each Float Pod is mostly salt, over 1000lbs of it - a solution which is inherently sterile. After each float, and anytime the Pod is not in use, our state of the art purification system purifies the water. Between each session every Float Pod’s water is completely purified 4 times with a 5-micron filter and both Ozone and UV Light technology to purify and disinfect the water. Our high standards and commitment to cleanliness ensures that each client will experience a pristine pod and suite for each float.
  • Is the water Hot?
The water is warm but not hot. It's heated at the body's natural temperature (34-36 degrees) in order to maximize the sensory deprivation feeling including feeling nothing on your skin.
  • What if I am Claustrophobic
Being in the Float Pod is more like floating in outer space than being confined in a box. You’re always in control of your environment, and even people with extreme claustrophobia have reported having no problems during their time in the Float Pod. You are also more than welcome to leave the Pod cover open as it is on hydraulics.
  • Can I float with Dyed hair?
Only if the water running through your hair in the shower at home is fully clear and that when you dry it with a white towel, there is no residue colour on the towel. If there is still some colour coming out you should wait a couple of more days/showers not only to keep the water of the Float Pod pristine and avoid a contamination fee but also because there is no guarantee that the salt and hydroxyl (H2O2) won’t strip colour from your hair.
  • Will I become dehydrated?
Not at all, in fact your skin doesn’t even prune up like it would from a long bath. The magnesium sulfate actually makes your skin very silky and soft. You will absorb some of the Epsom salt, so it’s advised that you to drink plenty of water or herbal tea after your float.
  • Is this a new Therapy?
Not at all, as a matter of fact, the first float tank was developed in 1954 by Dr. John C. Lily, an American physician, neuroscientist, psychoanalyst, philosopher, writer and inventor.
  • Can more than one person float in the Pod at the same time?
No, our Float Pods are designed for one person only. If you wish to come with a friend, you could book both the Float Room and the Oasis Room and then alternate.
  • Can I float if I'm on my menstrual cycle?
Yes certainly. We ask that you use the same precautions as you would for a swimming pool to prevent water contamination.
  • Can I float if I am pregnant?
Pregnant humans love floating! There is even a special position you can float in that relieves all of the weight of the baby off of the parent's body which can be a great help to those suffering from lower back pain. We have float pillows and pool noodles for your comfort. If you have any concerns, please consult with your physician before coming in.
  • I just shaved, can I float?
Avoid shaving 24hrs before your float. Any cuts or lesions will be distracting due to the Epsom salt sting. If you do have any small cuts or areas of sensitive skin, we’ll provide you will Vaseline to apply beforehand.
  • Is there clinical research done on Float Therapy?
Yes, check out the official site dedicated to the medical use of clinical floatation therapy. https://www.clinicalfloat.org/
  • Is Float Therapy covered by insurance?
Most extended health care plans do not cover Float Therapy, however each plan is unique so it's always best to contact your provider and ask. If you are a naturopathic client with us, ask your practitioner if Float Therapy is something that should be included in your treatment plan.
